This is particularly true for species living in thin plant stems, which offer minimal insulation from the heat outside.

The geographical location of the bees also plays a significant role in their vulnerability to climate change. Bee species living closer to the equator, in tropical regions, appear to be more at risk. Dr. Vanessa Kellermann, a senior author of the study, notes the complexity of predicting which species will be most affected by global warming. Even species adapted to high temperatures may have limited room to cope with additional warming, making them equally vulnerable.
